About Fake News Detector 101

A Final Year Project (Semester 5, January 2025) focused on fighting misinformation with AI.

Final Year Project Overview

This project was developed as part of the Diploma in Network Security program in German-Malaysian Institute (GMI). It aims to enhance digital literacy by providing users with an AI-driven browser extension that can instantly analyze and verify online news credibility.

Project Objectives

Purpose & Vision

Our vision is to promote critical thinking and awareness in the digital world. We believe that truth should be accessible and verifiable β€” and technology can help achieve that through transparency and AI innovation.

Behind the Technology

Fake News Detector 101 integrates Natural Language Processing (NLP), Sentiment Analysis, and Machine Learning to assess the trustworthiness of online content. Each article or headline is scanned for tone, manipulation, and bias, producing a clear trust score for users.

The extension communicates with a Flask-based backend powered by Python, performing real-time analysis securely. The system is designed with a privacy-first philosophy β€” ensuring users’ browsing data never leaves their device.
